ISO/TC 211 proud to have published the first ISO standard ever
via ISO’s Online Standards Development Tool

On the 27th of September, ISO 19103:2024, Geographic information — Conceptual schema language, was published. ISO 19103 standardizes conceptual models by specifying (1) a subset of the UML Modeling Language (UML), (2) a UML profile and (3) a set of core data types for use in conceptual models.

This second edition builds on UML 2.5.1 and is aligned even better with the general-purpose data types specified by ISO/IEC 11404. The Terms & definitions clause has been revised thoroughly (and is available on ISO’s Online Browsing Platform).

ISO 19103:2024 is the first standard ever being published from ISO’s Online Standards Development Tool (OSD); only the FDIS stage was done the traditional way. The project team and the committee used the opportunity as a first mover to provide feedback on OSDs features regarding editing, commenting and comment resolution, and are proud to have contributed to ODS’ further development.

More ISO/TC 211 projects are in the pipeline in OSD:
