The TC 46 SC 11 committee has begun work on the new project: ISO/CD TR 23081-4, Information and documentation – Metadata for Records, Part 4: Report on metadata element sets. This part of the ISO 23081 series takes a more comprehensive, survey-based approach, focusing on the various metadata element sets that are currently being used in records management.
Rather than providing implementation guidelines, Part 4 aims to present a detailed overview of different metadata element sets, analyzing their commonalities, differences, and the specific contexts in which they are applied. The report will serve as a valuable resource for professionals in records management and information governance, helping them understand the landscape of metadata standards and how these can be tailored to meet the needs of their organizations.
This project promises to enhance understanding of the role and structure of metadata across diverse systems, supporting the development of adaptable and interoperable records management solutions.
