How the standards are used in our processes/projectsIn China, ISO 19115 and ISO/TS 19139 were adopted as national standards in 2005 and 2009 (GB/T 19710 - 2005; GB/Z 24357- 2009), and several profiles of the metadata standard had been developed to address the needs of different sectors, including metadata specification for fundamental geographic information dataset. Based on these standards, National Catalogue Service for Geographic Information is deployed online at http://www.webmap.cn/, which contains metadata, i.e. information that describes content, availability and quality in data sets and services from the providers across the whole country. |
Benefits for the userBased on these standards, we can collect structured information about data by a unified way, and consequently, users, people and machines can search, find, look at and evaluate spatial data as well as the services operating on the data more easily. |
