In February 2022 two standards published after a three year journey of developments.
These two topics were initially discussed at the first ISO/TC 314 plenary meeting in London 2018.
We are now excited to share some details of the developments:
ISO 25550:2022
Ageing societies — General requirements and guidelines for an age-inclusive workforce provides guidance that can support organizations to incorporate changes to enable long-term employment opportunities, fight against ageism and benefit workers of all ages.
We need to recognize how the younger worker of today will become the older worker of tomorrow. Therefore, everyone can benefit from approaches to create ways for people to have meaningful, productive multi-stage and multidimensional careers across generations.
Proactive organizations are tapping into older workers by extending their career models and creating new development paths. This can encourage active participation of older workers and increase the organization’s reputation and image in society. This also creates a more balanced workplace, where experience is shared and intergenerational harmony is promoted.

ISO 25552:2022
Ageing societies — Framework for dementia-inclusive communities provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary framework to develop a dementia-inclusive community.
Moreover, this document recognizes that training, resources, experience, personnel availability, and existing organizational structures are constraints that can have a direct impact on how quickly and effectively a dementia-inclusive community can be planned and implemented. Therefore, this document provides guidance on how to identify these constraints and address them as part of the process of designing a dementia-inclusive community.
