Working Group 7 -
Crisis Management of Water Utilities
Objective
Given the asset intensive nature of service provision and their environmental exposure, water utilities are inevitably required to prepare for the management of crises (directly or in support of others). Service activity therefore extends to crisis response and management (e.g. issuance of consumption advice or orders, provision of alternative water services, such as drinking water and wastewater tankering; and the provision of stormwater storage).
The Working Group takes crisis management of water utilities as a subject of discussion.
Recent Publication
Two new standards publications were produced in 2024:
- ISO 24595:2024 Guidelines for the provision of alternative water service for essential facilities during a crisis
- ISO 24596:2024 Guidelines for the planning and implementation of water and wastewater systems' infrastructure hardening
Current Work
The working group is currently developing several other new topics with these project standards:
- PR ISO 24599 Guidelines for the management of mobile toilets under epidemic situations
- PR ISO 25502 Mobile non-sewer-connected toilet cabins - Requirements of services and products relating to the deployment of cabins and sanitary products
In cooperation with ISO TC 282/SC 3/WG 1 on "Risk and performance evaluation of water reuse systems" , Worging Group 7 participate to the project:
- PR ISO TR 25262 Health risk assessment and management of high quality reuseof greywater during natural disasters and emergency situations
