Finally, the new 15489 is translated into Swedish! The task was done by a working group from the Swedish Committee consisting of four people: Mats Burell, Håkan Lövblad, Elisabeth Klett and Anki Steen as project leader.
The work was started by Anki, who adapted the first rough translation made by the Swedish standardization committee (SIS), into a language attuned to the Swedish (records)audience. After this the working group as a whole has been taking it to a higher level of perfection.
“The four of us met five times to go through what I had done beforehand and accept or change the draft,” Anki says. “It was intense because we sat for whole days dissecting every sentence. It was important to make sure that the text said what it was meant to say and to make sure that it was understandable in Swedish. It was a delicate task but the working group is now convinced that the goals it set out to achieve have been completed successfully. We will know after the publication, which is planned at the end of this year or in the beginning of the next.”
At the moment the same working group is struggling with the translation of 30302. The work has barely begun with the group having had an initial meeting. Similar to the previous translation, this work is starting with a first corrective review of the text which the group then perfects. This translation work is planned to be finished by New Year.
