The technical subcommittee within UNE (the Spanish Standardization National Body) working on archives/records management domain, has translated and maintain ISO standards come from different ISO Technical Committees: ISO TC 46/SC 11 Archives/Records management; ISO TC 171 Document management application and ISO TC 20/SC 13 Space data and information transfer systems
The AEN CTN 50 /SC1, Gestión de documentos y aplicaciones, has under its responsibility 22 published standards. All of them are identical to ISO standards and are selected by the following criteria:
- All the products of ISO TC 46/SC 11 Archives/records management are translated and adopted as national standards. Depending on resources standards are published in the same year of ISO publication or in the following year.
- A selection of products of ISO TC 171 or one of their two Subcommittees based on the markets needs and expectations
- Standards on the OAIS (Open Archival Information System) model, published by ISO TC 20/SC 13 Space data and information transfer systems, are adopted and published after the permission of the correspondent Spanish mirror of ISO TC 20.
The different terminology used by standards drafted from different points of view is a great challenge, but also is the basis of fruitful and enriched discussions at national level.
