NEN committee 38004611 is the Dutch national committee working on standardization for information and records management. Standards will help organizations to meet their requirements (legal and regulatory, amongst others) with regards to records management.
The committee is currently working on the Dutch translation of the revised ISO 15489-1:2016- Records management. Concepts and principles , which has been adopted as a national standard (as well as all other current ISO/TC46/SC11- Atchives/records management standards). NEN is planning a launch event to promote the use of the revised ISO 15489-1 when the translation is available
The committee’s most important tasks are:
- following of and contributing to the work of ISO/TC46/SC11- Archives/records managemebt;
- observing the work done in ISO/TC171- Document management applications;
- for lack of a mirror committee for ISO/TC20/SC13- Space data and information systems, following of and contributing to the work done for ISO 14721 Open Archival Information System (OAIS), as it is considered to be an important standard for records management;
- following the development of standards which are considered to be relevant for the committee, such as NEN-ISO 9001- Quality management systems and NEN-ISO 27001- Information security management systems;
- developing practical guidelines and national standards, which may be based on international standards. Examples are NEN 2084 (Taxonomy for document types) and NEN 2082 (Requirements for records management functionality in software);
- Promotion of standards and its use via presentations, articles etc.
