ISO 15489, Part 1 was published April 2016, with a new title Records Management: Concepts and principles. Former ISO 15489 Part 2 titled 'Guidelines for implementation', was withdrawn.
In lieu of working on a Part 2, two new products being developed: Standard on Appraisal for Managing Records and Standard on Systems Design for Records
After 15 years being a reference for the records management field, ISO 15489 was updated after a revision period with the participation of experts from all countries in the Subcommitte. It is published as 15489, Part 1, but there will not be other parts.
ISO 15489 Part 2 titled 'Guidelines for implementation', was withdrawn as a decision of TC 46/SC 11 Plenary in Wellington, New Zealand (May 2016). All concepts and advice covered by this Technical Report are included in other products from ISO TC 46/SC 11. Some of them are already published, and others are included in the scope of new products to be developed.
