In July 2021, the Committee published guidance for ISO 30301: 2019. The series has been developed to be compatible with, and complement, other management system standards (MSS). It helps organizations meet the documentation requirements specified in such standards as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001.
The guidance addresses ISO directives for harmonizing standards across the organization. ‘Documented information’ is one of the common terms for all MSS. This explanatory paper explains how the processes and controls in ISO 30301 can help to implement the requirements of the ‘documented information’ references in ISO MSS. ISO defines Management Systems Standards as sets of interrelated or interacting elements of an organization to establish policies and objectives and processes to achieve those objectives.
The ISO 30300 series, supported by related ISO TC46/SC11International Standards and Technical Reports is intended to improve the creation and control of records and set benchmarks for organizations to assess the adequacy of their records. This consistency with other management systems standards enables greater communication and cooperation across disciplines, especially for integrated implementation and conformity assessment.
