ISO/TC 46/SC 11/AHG 4 is an ad-hoc group looking at the possibility of developing a publication on “Records Capability Maturity”. The convenor is Alan Shipman (BSI). All members of SC11 are invited to join this group, and submit contributions towards a report, which will be put to the SC11 plenary in May 2020.
Wikipedia says that “The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) is a development model created after a study of data collected from organizations that contracted with the U.S. Department of Defense, who funded the research. The term "maturity" relates to the degree of formality and optimization of processes, from ad hoc practices, to formally defined steps, to managed result metrics, to active optimization of the processes.” Wikipedia also notes that a ‘maturity model’ “can be viewed as a set of structured levels that describe how well the behaviors, practices and processes of an organization can reliably and sustainably produce required outcomes”.
An important source of information for an SC11 publication on CMM is the ISO/IEC 330XX family of standards which define terminology and processes for the assessment of processes.
