I would very much like to extend my sincere and heartfelt appreciation to you for your leadership over the last years. I was surprised to hear of your resignation as Chair of TC 46/SC 11, but completely support your decision to switch the focus from the vagaries of the working work world, and standards wranging, to concentrate on having some me time. It's not my place to comment on your long and illustrious career in Australia and beyond, but I feel I can comment on our time together, working in the dynamic and challenging world of standards development and ISO in particular.
You took on the very challenging (and some would say thankless) task of leading the TC46/SC/11 group through arguably its greatest ever transition. There were challenges for a number of factors both internal and external, and discharged your duty with grace, wisdom and tenacity. You brought a gravitas to the position and had the personality and professional credibility to lead the group through this time, and I would like to congratulate you on that achievement. For my own part, I always felt you took the role seriously, bringing your gravitas, and with a strong sense of doing the right things for the right reasons. I would like to warmly thank you for this service which was highly commendable, despite the sisyphean effort involved, as a labour of love within your own very valuable time as a volunteer.
I wish you all the very best in future endeavours, and expect you will bring your energy and organisational skills to create a full and fulfilling programme for yourself, rather than for others now, which is richly deserved!
