After taking over as Chair of ISO/TC 261 on January 2019, Prof Dr Christian Seidel convened his 9th and last Plenary meeting on 31 March 2023. He was warmly praised for his leadership and human qualities by the speakers who talked during the meeting and by the participants. He was presented with awards from ISO and ASTM, the two partner SDO's in this technical committee.

We are happy to announce the comeback of the face-to-face biannual international meeting week of ISO/TC 261 and ASTM F42 after the Covid-19-related travel restrictions have been lifted. DIN holds the secretariat of ISO/TC 261 and will host the event from 20 to 23 September 2022 in Augsburg (Messe Augsburg).

ISO/TC 261 “Additive Manufacturing” is pleased to announce that a big milestone with regard to the development stage of 15 AM-standards has been reached.
A virtual event will bring together subject matter experts from industry, government, and academia for a discussion to help further development and refinement of the AMSC Standardization Roadmap for Additive Manufacturing.
ISO/TC261 leadership decided together with ASTM F42 leadership to recommend virtual meetings in 2021.

In light of the Corona pandemic, ISO/TC261 meeting week took place virtually.
Over 75 delegates from 15 countries gathered on September 20th, 2019 at Centre technique des industries mécaniques (CETIM) facilities in Senlis France for the 14th plenary meeting of ISO/TC 261.
ISO and ASTM International have jointly crafted the Additive Manufacturing Standards Development Structure, a framework which will help meet the needs for new technical standards in this fast-growing field.
