Next week (8th-10th September) sees the GeoGov summit taking place in Virgina, USA. Program Agenda | GeoGov Summit 2025. The GeoGov Summit will convene leaders from government, industry and academia to address the key challenges in geospatial data governance, including advancing the US  National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).

ISO/TC 211 standards directly support several of the Summit’s core focus areas:

Operationalizing the NSDI: The ISO 19100 series standards provide structured models for data aggregation, integration, and access—critical for turning strategy into collective action

Enhancing Collaboration: ISO/TC 211 promotes harmonized data schemas and ontologies that facilitate seamless Government-to-Government (G2G) and Government-to-Business (G2B) partnerships

Driving Innovation: Standards for geospatial services, imagery, and GeoAI enable the integration of emerging technologies into national workflows

Strengthening Data Communities: By supporting authoritative data and location-based insights, ISO standards empower governments to improve public services and disaster preparedness.

With over 100 published standards and active collaboration with organizations such as the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the UN-GGIM, ISO/TC 211 provides a globally recognized framework that can be tailored to national priorities.

As the GeoGov Summit 2025 explores the future of geospatial governance, ISO/TC 211 invites stakeholders to engage with its standards to accelerate innovation, enhance collaboration and improve data quality.
