Land Cover Land Use Collaboration

As an international organisation ISO/TC 211 works collaboratively with a wide range of international organisations, in developing geospatial data standards avoiding duplication of effort.

We are pleased to receive the following message from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. We have a long standing collaboration with FAO and value their contribution to the ISO 19144 standards series.

“We are pleased to share the news that three standards from the ISO 19144 standard series, jointly developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), have now been published and are available online.

We sincerely acknowledge and appreciate your valuable contributions and the teams in ISO that made the publication of these standards possible”

This achievement represents a major milestone in advancing semantic interoperability and supports the broader goals of integrated geospatial data governance at national, regional, and international levels.

We look forward to supporting the implementation and adoption of these standards in operational settings, and to collaborating with partners in leveraging them for building more coherent, transparent, and accountable sustainable land monitoring systems – leaving no one behind!
