The 15^th annual meeting of the Committee of Experts of the United Nations Global Geographic Information Management (UN-GGIM) is meeting in New York, NY, USA during the week of 04-08 August 2025 and ISO/TC 211 is there!

As a global entity that engages with the various disciplines of Geography, Computer Science, Remote Sensing, and Policy for the People, the UN-GGIM is where the bureaucracy of civilization meets geospatial standards for implementation. As a long-standing contributor and facilitator of the progression of the industry, and in coordination with IHO and OGC, TC 211 continues its role as partner.

There have been recent advances in the development of the global geodesy supply chain, the Land Administration Domain Model, ISO 19144 on Land Cover and Land Use, and ISO 19157 on Data Quality, among other relevant items that impact the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of the process, ISO/TC 211 maintains liaison relationships with the regional groups of UN-GGIM, as well with an array of entities that also support these global efforts, such as FAO, FIG, the World Bank, UN Economic Commissions, among others, often filling leadership and expert roles on a variety of levels and initiatives.
