Over the past three years of my term as chair of ISO/TC 211,  I have enjoyed the opportunity to oversee and represent the excellent group of international experts who make up ISO/TC 211. I continue to find it a very friendly group made up of people dedicated to working for the common good of enabling better management of geographic information.

I can provide a bit more detail about how I expect to remain involved in ISO/TC 211 over the next few years, nominated by the national standards body of the United Kingdom: assuming the committee decides to go ahead with two closely related metadata projects, then it is now my turn to try leading some ISO projects: ISO/TS 19115-5 to map from 19115 to DCAT, and the revision of ISO 19115-1:2014. In addition, I expect the UK to nominate me to AG 11 Advisory Group on UN.

It’s will also be my pleasure to help our new chair get started in the role. You may have noted that ISO/TMB have voted to confirm Ms Sandra Brantebäck as our new chair, so – welcome, Sandra. I hope you enjoy the role as much as I have.
