ISO/TC 211 remembers 2008 |
|
|
In January 2008, the ISO Secretary-General signed a cooperation agreement with the UN’s Universal Postal Union (UPU). Although not specific to ISO/TC 211, it paved the way for a ISO/TC 211 - UPU addressing workshop in May 2008 and on to the multi-part ISO 19160 Addressing standard, the most recent part of which is the revised ISO 19160-4:2023 Addressing – Part 4: International postal address components and template language based on UPU S42. All the approved national templates are available from the UPU. A journey bringing the “writing on an envelope” and the GIS representation of addresses together. In September 2008, after ground work from ISO/TC 211, the ISO Secretary-General signed “Agreement on Working Arrangements between the World Meteorological Organization and the International Organization for Standardization” which actually covers WMO’s work with five ISO technical committees. Also during the year, we published an imagery extension to our reference model, a standard approach to managing terminology, and a “schema for moving features”. This last was together with OGC whose OGC® Moving Features - Open Geospatial Consortium provides XML, JSON and CSV implementations of the TC 211 standard. |
