ISO adopts ontology register standard, for geographic information services. Service ontology register. ISO 19150-6 The service ontology register, ISO 19150-6 sets a standard registration and maintenance mechanism for the registration of ISO 19150-4 compliant geographic information service ontologies. These ontologies set out the concepts, describe and categorize geographic information services and geographic information Web services. The publication of this standard contributes to making semantic ontologies regarding geographic information more FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable). As geographic information is widely spread and used in various fields and domains, semantic interoperability will become more important, and it is expected that the utilization of these standards will also expand. The series of ISO 19150, parts 1, 2 and 4 ontology standards considers semantic interoperability for geographic information. Part 1 defines the framework for semantic interoperability of geographic information. Part 2 describes the rules and guidelines for developing ontologies in the Web Ontology Language (OWL) to support interoperability of geographic information over the Semantic Web. Part 4 sets the framework for geographic information service ontology and the description of geographic information Web services. |
