When do I add new content to my document?
Many project teams ask when to introduce new content to the standard. ISO directive rules say that for the Approval Stage (FDIS Ballot) only editorial changes are allowed.
Taking into account that the document in the Enquiry Stage is sent out to all ISO members (even outside of the ISO/TC 211) and the DIS text is allowed to be a normative reference from other standards, the content should be more or less fixed at that stage.
Even though lacking strict guidelines we suggest that you should think of the process as a funnel. You start in the preliminary stage where everything that fits the scope is welcomed but the further you get in the structure the less new material that should be introduced.
