Liaisons from ISO/TC 211

Expectation on responsible ISO/TC 211 Working group (WG) or Advisory Group (AG)

  • Appoint liaison representative(s)
  • Report to the Secretariat
  • Follow up the work

Expectation on ISO/TC 211 liaison representative

  • Be knowledgeable of the liaison’s standards and ongoing work 
  • Identify collaboration, Promote ISO/TC 211
              - proactively identifiy possibilities for collaboration
              - promote ISO/TC 211; e.g. invite to the Standards in Action seminar
  • Report, Communicate, be Point of contact
              - report to the liaison upon request
              - for internal liaison fill in this report Liaison report from ISO/TC 211  which at times is sent out to to us by the other TC. This template is not intended for external liaisons where each may have their own expectations of the contents of your report. Optional to add other useful information as attachments
              - share information from the liaison, with relevant stakeholders within the TC; 
              - be the point of contact to the other organization’s liaison representative and to ISO/TC 211. 
              - report to the WG/AG and the Secretariat
  • Act on enquiries and ballots 
              - collect and compile ISO/TC 211 comments on any enquiry coming from the liaison; 
              - act on relevant ballots from the liaison, by collecting ISO/TC 211 comments from convenors and other stakeholders (by email or at meeting), and by compiling comments in the ISO comment sheet. The Secretariat supports by circulating the CIB, and by submitting the resulting comment sheet to the liaison Secretariat;

Expectation on external liaison organizations

The expectations are described in ISO Application to establish a liaison with an ISO Committee or WG Form 'Application to establish a liaison', e.g. for the organization to:

  • have competence and expertise to contribute to development of standards, or have the authority to promote their implementation.
  • have a process for stakeholder engagement and consensus decision-making to develop the input it provides (see Guidance for ISO liaison organizations – Engaging stakeholders and building consensus http://www.iso.org/iso/guidance_liaison-organizations.pdf);
  • have a point of contact.
