ISO 19180

This Technical Report provides guidance on the integration of geospatial standards with gender sensitive standards to ensure equitable representation and inclusion of diverse gender identities within the field. Promote gender sensitivity in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of geospatial data, ensure gender inclusivity and foster an inclusive environment within organizations and communities involved in geospatial science and technology.

It identifies and describes:

a) The alignment between ISO/TC 211 geospatial standards (e.g., ISO 19101, 19103, 19107, 19108, 19109, 19110, 19111, 19112, 19115 – 1, 19115 – 2, 19119, 19128, 19136) and ISO gender sensitive standards 53800 and 30415.

b) Geospatial inputs and workflows that can support gender sensitivity and inclusivity

c) A framework, highlighting the need of gender-disaggregated data, accessibility indicators, and safety metrics into geospatial models.

d) Detailed analysis on different integration points where gender sensitivity can be incorporated in geospatial standards

e) Detailed analysis of Gender Sensitivity ISO Standards for adopting and adapting gender equality principles into geospatial contexts

f) Use cases and sectoral examples (e.g., urban transport, forest, accessibility, governance, water resources etc.) illustrating how gender sensitivity can be included in different geospatial standards.

g) Recommendations for incorporating gender sensitivity into geospatial standards.

This Technical Report is intended for use by:

h) Organizations implementing geospatial technologies and standards.

i) Regulators, policymakers, and national agencies developing geospatial information infrastructures.

j)Practitioners, and technical experts responsible for data collection, validation, and assurance of geospatial information.

k)This document does not prescribe specific requirements for conformity but provides guidance and mappings to support organizations in integrating gender sensitivity in geospatial standards and practices.
