What is the ISO 9000 family of quality management standards?
The ISO 9000 family includes ISO 9001, the world’s best-known standard for quality management systems, along with a range of supporting standards on quality management. All are developed by ISO/TC 176, ISO’s technical committee on quality management and quality assurance, and its subcommittees.
ISO’s seven quality management principles
ISO 9000, which sets out the fundamental concepts and vocabulary of quality management, also defines seven quality management principles that underpin all other standards in the ISO 9000 family. These include customer focus, leadership, the process approach and a commitment to continual improvement. Learn more about these principles in ISO’s brochure on quality management principles.
