ISO/TC 314 had its yearly plenary meeting in Helsinki in October 2023. During this week of meetings a workshop on wellbeing took place.
The Wellbeing Workshop took place on October 10th as part of the ISO/TC 314 Ageing Societies plenary meeting in Helsinki, Finland. The workshop was organized by Dr. Hiroshi Sato from Japan, who is the convenor of ISO/TC 314/WG 4 Wellbeing. The goal of workshop was to share information about global activities and delve into the concept of wellbeing.
The workshop commenced with an overview of efforts to assess wellbeing at various levels, from national to global. Seven presenters subsequently reported on activities aimed at promoting wellbeing. These included:
- Standards for organizational governance and management aimed at enhancing and maintaining members’ wellbeing.
- Various local supports in Australia to prevent isolation for people living with dementia.
- A program in Sweden that prescribes physical activity tailored to individuals’ needs.
- Initiatives and standards in Canada that support various aspects of people’s wellbeing.
- Recent efforts in Japanese municipalities to improve residents’ health conditions.
- A wellbeing management system for companies, promoted by the Japanese government, aimed at increasing employee vitality and productivity.
- Challenges faced in providing facilities to promote the wellbeing of residents in local communities in China.
By sharing a wide range of actual implementations for wellbeing of individuals, the workshop proposed collecting good practices worldwide to gain insight into how to promote wellbeing in communities.
