Ageing inclusive living in smart homes standard initiative
In 2024 work commenced in developing a standard for the Ageing inclusive living in smart homes. This work is the first Joint Working Group for ISO TC 314 Ageing Societies and IEC SyC AAL. This important work is aimed at providing a guide to enhancing the safety and usability for older people living in smart home environments. As personal preferences for digital care and support grow, along with the workforce shortages in the areas of more traditional models of care and support for older people, smart homes play an important role in supporting people to live independently and safely. This new work for Iso TC 314 is due to be completed in Mid-2025 and will provide important assistance to older people and smart home service delivery partners in providing high quality services and supports underpinned with smart home approaches and technologies.
