on the 27th of May 2020, ISO/TC 314 is participating in an event to discover key elements for a new international standard.
A member of the UK mirror committee is exploring how to accelerate construction of a new breed of age-friendly housing in ‘smart’ socially supportive multigenerational neighbourhoods, employing innovative technologies, business and service models, to improve health and wellbeing and reduce the financial burden on Citizens and State.
The first step in this evolution will be to understand how standards can play a part. A workshop is being organized by the AAA on May 27th to bring together 40 cross-sector experts and thought leaders, in a united effort to flesh out a new ISO standards framework.
The aim of the event will be to evolve the proposition through consultation across seven broad categories: industry and commerce; government; labour; academic and research bodies; non-governmental organisations, together with end-users, older adults in particular.
After the event all the input will be reviewed to built a proposal that would be ready to submit to the UK mirror committee and if all goes well the ISO Technical Committee ISO/TC 314 ageing societies will approve the proposal for development in the autumn. Thereafter, it is envisaged that a 3 year collaborative programme of work will be established to construct an ISO framework and a voluntary code of conduct upon which strategies and solutions can be built.
This online forum will be the first opportunity to deepen our understanding what the framework should focus on.
