ISO/TC 314 and AAA are working towards a proposal for a new standard to support the development of multigenerational neighbourhoods.
The Agile Ageing Alliance (AAA) is a longstanding advocate for multigenerational neighbourhoods, which support ageing in place and offer a viable alternative to age-specific care in institutional settings.
Given the increasing needs of society following Covid-19, there is a growing appetite to work collaboratively to facilitate construction of more inclusive and sustainable communities, incorporating innovative support system that foster healthy ageing and independent living. What’s missing is a commonly agreed view of what good looks like and what it costs, making it hard for central and local government, business and industry stakeholders, to plan with any degree of certainty. To this end, AAA has joined forces with ISO/TC 314 to inform the creation of a new standard for smart multigenerational neighbourhoods. By pooling research, expertise and insights, participating stakeholders have the opportunity to revolutionize the design of communities, at both the micro and macro levels.
ISO/TC 314 expects to receive the proposal draft for consideration in December 2021.
