In September 2019 various economy members of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) lead by China met in Beijing to discuss the role Standardisation is playing in promoting Employment related to the Silver Economy.
In September 2019 various economy members of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) lead by China met in Beijing to discuss the role Standardisation is playing in promoting Employment related to the Silver Economy. The work of ISO/TC 314 Ageing Societies and its various Working Groups was highlighted in presentations during this event. Many ISO/TC 314 Ageing Societies Members were represented at this APEC event including from the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Thailand and of course China as the host country.
During the two-day event many discussions centred around the importance and need for Standards in employment related areas of Silver Economies. Highlighted as part of these discussion was the important considerations that new and emerging technologies will play, the increasing need to consider the labour force participation of older workers, and the importance of the use of standards for global consistency. Many of the committee members of ISO/TC 314 participated in presentations and discussions, these included Ms Nele Zgavc, Dr Sabrina Pit, Professor Hajime Yamada, Ms Anne Livingstone, Dr Kamolpun Punpuing and Mr Qiang Hao.
