The international standard in development for travel risk management has a draft available for comment review by national standards bodies and their national experts.
ISO 31030 aims to provide guidance to organizations, on how to manage the risk(s), faced by travellers as a result of undertaking travel on behalf of the organization they represent. This is a very current topic considering the recent events, just consider Corona Virus or the recent bush fires in Australia. The uncertainties can come from many sources such as; road accidents, disease outbreaks, epidemics, natural disasters, as well as conflict, crime (including cyber 125 and information), terrorism and political and socially motivated instability can threaten the safety, security, health (including mental health) and well-being of travellers, and adversely affect the outcome of their travel purposes. Managing risks for travel to a country where the organisation has no local base might be more complex than for travels to countries where it has such a base. Therefore, this document can provide some helpful information for organizations.
We will have the results from the ballot in March and the relevant working group will be reviewing the comments in May during the ISO/TC 262 plenary week in Ottawa, Canada.
