Since its inception in 2002, ISO TC 224 has established 12 Working Groups that produce international standards on various aspects of service activities. Under direct responsibility of this technical committee, 10 international standards have been published.
Working Group 2 - Service to Users
Working Group 2 has completed its work and prepared the international standard ISO 24510 : 2007 - Activities relating to drinking water and wastewater services -- Guidelines for the assessment and for the improvement of the service to users.
TC 224 plans to update ISO 24510:2007 following the publication of ISO 24513.
Working Group 3 - Drinking Water
Working Group 3 has completed its work and prepared the international standard ISO 24511:2007 - Activities relating to drinking water and wastewater services -- Guidelines for the management of wastewater utilities and for the assessment of wastewater services.
TC 224 plans to update ISO 24511:2007 following the publication of ISO 24513.
Working Group 4 - Wastewater Systems
Working Group 4 has completed its work and prepared the international standard ISO 24512:2007 - Activities relating to drinking water and wastewater services -- Guidelines for the management of drinking water utilities and for the assessment of drinking water services.
TC 224 plans to update ISO 24512:2007 following the publication of ISO 24513.
Working Group 5 - Examples of the Application of 2451X Standards
Working Group 5 has completed its work and has prepared the international standard ISO 24514 - Activities relating to drinking water and wastewater services - Examples of use of performance indicators using ISO 24510, 24511 and 24512 standards and related methodologies which is in the publication stage.
Working Group 6 - Asset Management
The Working Group manages the development of international standards dealing with the management of assets.
It has completed its work on 3 of 6 areas as follows:
ISO 24516-1: 2016 - Guidelines for the management of assets of water supply and wastewater systems - Part 1: Drinking water distribution networks.
ISO 24516-3:2017 - Guidelines for the management of assets of water supply and wastewater systems -- Part 3: Wastewater collection networks.
ISO 24523:2017 - Service activities relating to drinking water supply systems and wastewater systems -- Guidelines for benchmarking of water utilities.
Working Group 7 - Crisis Management of Water Utilities
The Working Group takes crisis management of water utilities as a subject of discussion.
It has completed its work on the following technical specifications:
ISO/TS 24518:2015 - Activities relating to drinking water and wastewater services -- Crisis management of water utilities.
ISO/TS 24520:2017 - Guidelines for the management of assets of water supply and wastewater systems -- Crisis management - Good practice for technical aspects.
ISO/TS 24527:2020 - Service activities relating to drinking water supply, wastewater and stormwater systems – Guidelines on alternative drinking water service provision during a crisis.
Working Group 8 - Onsite Domestic Wastewater Management using Low Technologies
The Working Group focuses on wastewater and has completed work on the following international standard:
ISO 24521:2016 - Activities relating to drinking water and wastewater services -- Guidelines for the management of basic on-site domestic wastewater services.
