Welcome to the spring meeting of SC 4! It has been an active period since we last met in Chicago and our coming meeting will be an active one as well. I start by welcoming a new P Member to the Committee. Ireland has joined as a P Member in March and we look forward to the contributions from this important stakeholder in our work. In addition, you will see an addition to our agenda for the coming meeting with TC 59. We enjoy a Joint Working Group relationship with that committee and welcome the JWG to our Plenary in Toulouse. We also welcome Laura Mathew back to the SC as ISO TPM and thank Sonia Sarmiento for her efforts as the interim TPM during Laura’s absence. We have an active week planned for SC 4. To that end, some of our business has been communicated in advance through draft resolutions. As many of you are aware, one of our flagship products in ISO 10303 has been working aggressively to deliver to the schedule constraints for the project and this meeting will be a critical one to assess the project schedule and make important decisions about AP242 and AP239. Of course, the entire work program will be reviewed in detail as part of our week’s activity. Don’t forget to check out Industry Day where we will have some great industry speakers, panel sessions and keynotes from our gracious hosts at AFNOR and key industries in France. There will be a tour of the Airbus factory and you will not want to miss that! At the SC level, there have been important outreach activities including a contribution to the Strategic Advisory Group on Machine Readable Standards, a collaboration with TC 261 on how best to support Additive Manufacturing and continued collaboration with TC 171/SC 2 on 3D PDF. As an outgrowth from Joint Working Group 21, I am leading an adhoc group focused for TC 184 on a definition for digital twin and the implications to our standards space as a result. Finally, we continue to be engaged in the Smart Manufacturing Coordination Committee and the Smart Manufacturing Standards Map Task Force. On that last point, IEC has formed a System Committee that will serve as a peer to the SMCC and help coordinate joint activities between ISO and IEC on Smart Manufacturing.
