ISO Extending Exceptional Measures

With guidance from the World Health Organization urging all to double down on safety measures  ISO has released extended direction during the pandemic.

Direction from ISO:

• 9-month extensions:  All projects registered on SDT 48 as of 2020-05-01 will be allowed to request a 9-month extension after May 2020. All projects registered on SDT 36 as of 2020-05-01 will be allowed to request a 9-month extension after May 2020, but will not be allowed to select the SDT48.

 

• 6-month cancellation buffer: The 6-month cancellation buffer will be kept beyond the following limit dates.

-DIS registered limit date (stage 40.00): 12 months before the end of the selected standards development track.

-Publication limit date (stage 60.60): Maximum timeframe of the selected standards development track

If the limit date for DIS (stage 40.00) or publication (stage 60.60) is exceeded, the committee shall decide within 6 months on one of the actions detailed in the ISO Supplement Clause 2.1.6.2.

 

• CD balloting extension: Until the 2021-01-31, a P-member of the committee may request to extend a CD ballot to one of the durations given in Clause 2.5.2. This request shall be granted by the Committee Manager.

Meeting notice adjustment: Until 2021-01-31, meetings can be called with the following minimum notice periods:

-8-week meeting notice for plenary virtual meetings

-4-week meeting notice for working group virtual meetings

Recommendation from TMB:

Beyond the physical meeting restriction set until the 2020-12-31, the TMB encourages committees to continue planning for virtual meetings over physical meetings due to the remaining uncertainties related to COVID-19 crisis.

 

Note: We remind P-members that the voting downgrade rules stated in clause 1.7.4 of the ISO/IEC Directives remain unchanged. If members have issues defining their national position then they should consider casting an abstention vote.
