Are Project Managers and Service Managers friends or enemies?

Lynda Cooper (BSI) provided a very interesting presentation comparing/contrasting the two fields of Project and Service Management and then focusing on the needed partnership between the two. Some interesting comments that arose focused around the more personal capabilities that must cross – ability to “move” people, levels of expertise for the Project Manager as well as the Service Manager – and how they do overlap. As always, there was excellent reference to the requirements of ISO/IEC 20000-1 – the guidance, no matter what the operating platform is, is included in 20000-1. The main takeaway is that Project Management and Service Management are definitely friends.
