A special invited Standardization session took place Monday 1 May 2023 at OTC in Houston: "Towards the Implementation of Unified Standards in the Digital Age”. It was organized by the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) standardization subcommittee consisting of ISO/TC67 – Oil and gas industries including lower carbon energy, IOGP and sponsoring societies SNAME and TMS. This technical session was established in line with our objectives of reinforcing industry attention to standards, accelerating the move to a unified set of standards and promoting industry collaboration. This year OTC standardization session included management & technical representatives from standardization development organizations (ISO and API) and other operator industry organizations (IOGP JIP33 and DeepStar JIP Consortium) besides supplier/manufacturer presentations. It contained excellent speakers with industrial responsibility addressing lower carbon, safety/reliability/cost, offshore wind, standardization deployment, digital solutions etc. amongst Industry stakeholders by ongoing collaborations within Standardization Organizations, Industry JIPs, operators and suppliers.
After the previous successful OTC 2022 panel and technical sessions (labelled “Discovery”), this OTC 2023 technical session “(labelled “Implementation”) at 1 May 2023 thus had key speeches with Q&A showing good momentum regarding energy industries usage of standards.
