Successful OTC 2022 Sessions 4-5 May 2022 in Houston - Highlighting Standardization for Efficient Energy Transition and supporting The Path to Net-Zero
A successful and historic first OTC standardization panel session took place Thursday 5 May 2022 in Houston: "How Unified International Standards Enable Efficiency in the Energy Transition". It was organized by the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) standardization subcommittee consisting of ISO - International Organization for Standardization, IOGP and sponsoring societies SNAME and ASME. The panel session was established for collaborating to promote the standardization topic at OTC. The panel was a continuation of the OTC Technical Session “Standardization Throughout the Project Life Cycle" held Wednesday 4 May 2022.
Panel session 5 May 2022 - "How Unified International Standards Enable Efficiency in the Energy Transition"
The unique 2.5 hours panel discussion involved management panelists (see names and photos below), and energetic Q&A with the audience at Day 4 of OTC. The panel discussion was centered on oil & gas industries and offshore wind with business focus on the following themes as presented by distinguished panelists in executive and forward-looking speeches. The panel session was moderated by Runar Østebø and Thalia Krüger.

• THEME #2: CONSOLIDATION, COLLABORATION, COORDINATION
• THEME #3: EXAMPLES OF SIMPLIFICATION IOGP-JIP-33 AND IOGP-JIP-35
• THEME #4: STRENGTHENING THE STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
• THEME #5: LESSONS IN STANDARDIZATION
• THEME #6: RENEWABLES SECTOR INTERACTIONS WITH OIL & GAS
Based on the panel session discussion various viewpoints and action points were identified and captured for futher follow-up by the OTC subcommittee and ISO & IOGP.
Future OTC 2023 & 2024 sessions are being planned for as per long term OTC vision presented – based on the first OTC 2022 panel entitled “Discovery”.
A new standardization session will also take place 30 Aug 2022 at ONS, Stavanger Norway.

Panel session 5 May 2022 - “Standardization Throughout the Project Life Cycle"
The value-adding OTC Technical Session included seven excellent international speeches with authors/co-authors from Eastern Hemisphere (Canada, USA) and Western Hemisphere (Australia, France, Netherlands, Norway and UK). Five of these seven OTC papers had been provided from the ISO/TC67 community (see list below), and acknowledgement is given to their contribution for everyone to read and practice in the industries.
