ISO/TC 44/SC 10, Quality management in the field of welding, met on 2019-03-26 and -27 at Bundesverband Metall (BVM) in Essen (Germany). Delegates from Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States attended the meeting. Furthermore, Mr. Italo Fernandes from European Federation for welding, joining and cutting (EWF) attended the meeting. It was agreed to have a category A liaison of EWF with ISO/TC 44/SC 10.
The work on the following active projects was pushed forward:
- The received comments on ISO/CD 17279-3 on Test methods for Micro joints of 2nd generation high temperature superconductors were solved and the draft was finalized for DIS vote.
- The draft of ISO 15609-1 on Welding procedure specification for arc welding and ISO 15609-2 on Welding procedure specification for gas welding were finalized and submitted to FDIS stage;
- The revision of part 1, part 5 and part 6 of ISO 3834 Series on Qualification requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials were agreed;
- ISO 17660-1 and -2 on Welding of reinforcing steel were merge in one single standard and a NWIP on it was prepared by the Japanese delegation;
- The draft Amendment 1 of ISO 15614-1:2017 on Welding procedure test for arc and gas welding of steels and arc welding of nickel and nickel alloys were finalized for publication and FDIS-vote will be skipped. A second amendment of ISO 15614-1:2017 prepared by the Belgian delegation was agreed as new work item within SC 10;
- The comments from the Systematic Reviews 2018 were discussed and it was decided to confirm ISO 12932 on Quality levels for imperfections of Laser-arc hybrid welds and ISO 15614-14 on Welding procedure test for laser-arc hybrid welding for a further period of 5 years.
The results of the Systematic Reviews 2019 will be discussed on the forthcoming SC 10 meeting. The next meeting of ISO/TC 44/SC 10 will be held on 2020-04-22/23 in Berlin at DIN.
