ISO/TC 135/SC 7 "Personnel qualification", in charge of ISO 9712, met on 2017/11/16 and 17, in Singapore, to discuss the revision of the standard. The document was submitted to a systematic review from April to September 2017 and about 400 comments have been received.

Most of the comments request:
- the deletion of the renewal: simplified recertification each 5 years is considered
- the introduction of a code of ethics for the employer and the candidate
- a clarification regarding the techniques: should they be specified in this general document?
- a framework for e-learning and refresher course
- the review of the duration of training and industrial experience
ISO/TC 135/SC 7 next meeting is scheduled in June 2018, in Sweden. During the meeting, the members should start the redaction of a new version of ISO 9712.
