Agricultural pest management is becoming more difficult worldwide; new pests appear due to changing climate and the introduction of invasive species. Farmers and their trusted partners are often not equipped to diagnose the severity of unfamiliar pest infestations, and national governments can be caught off-guard if an infestation becomes severe.
ISO - International Organization for Standardization TC 347 is proud to announce “My robot says it saw a bug! Automated observations in integrated pest management”, webinar #15 in its series on working together towards secure and thriving agrifood systems.
A key first step in scalable integrated pest management is identifying pests and assessing their infestation severity to enable informed decisions. It’s very hard to scale this up while retaining accuracy in places without enough trained agronomists and entomologists.
Our presenters will introduce available technological approaches to this problem, they will share their vision for future standardization opportunities in the space and explain how to join the effort within TC 347. A Q&A session will follow.
