ISO - International Organization for Standardization TC 347 is proud to announce “Pay attention (if you want it to work): The case for machine-actionable unit of measure codes and QUDT”, webinar #14 in its series on working together towards secure and thriving agrifood systems.
Agrifood engineering and software systems constantly deal in quantities: measured or planned values of temperature, mass, application rates , speed, and much more. Storing these values without their corresponding units of measure is a recipe for disaster.
Our presenters, Steve Ray, Ralph Hodgson and Fredrik Anthonisen with an introduction by the TC 347 chair, will share the need for machine-actionable unit of measure codes, will discuss the properties of a useful set of those resources, and will introduce QUDT.org (Quantities, Units, Dimensions and Types). They will share their vision for future standardization opportunities in TC 347 and explain how to join the effort. A Q&A session will follow.

This webinar series is designed to explore key technical areas where standardization can support innovation, sustainability, and interoperability in agrifood systems.
ISO Technical Committee 347 was created to provide a home for standards to enable data-driven decisions in the world’s agrifood systems, and to help eliminate the data interoperability problems that have so far prevented doing this at scale.
