Why you should join the ISO/TC 347 Plenary
The 5th ISO/TC 347 Plenary in Cologne brings together the global community shaping the future of digital standards for agriculture and food systems. Over four tightly curated days, participants will dive into the practical and strategic foundations of interoperable agri-food data — from units of measure, identifiers (GLN, GTIN), and GS1 EPCIS event tracking, through to agri-semantics, workflows, data quality, and orchestration .
Beyond the technical core, the programme looks firmly to the future. Dedicated sessions on data spaces, land-use history, interated pest management, responsible innovation, stakeholder engagement, and public digital infrastructure will explore how standards can enable transparency, trust, and sustainability at scale . A forward-looking block on new and upcoming work offers participants a direct chance to influence what ISO/TC 347 tackles next .
The plenary itself includes two sessions which will run in hybrid format across two afternoons, making it accessible to both in-person and remote contributors, while side meetings and ad hoc groups (AHGs) create space for hands-on collaboration and concrete progress . Training sessions on ISO documentation and Open Standards Development lower the barrier for new contributors and help experienced members work more effectively inside ISO processes .
