ISO/TC 347 is proud to present “Feeding 10 billion people and having some Earth left over--How sustainability models, metrics and data can help”, webinar #20 in ISO/TC 347's series on working together towards secure and thriving agrifood systems. This series is designed to explore key technical areas where standardization can support innovation, sustainability, and interoperability in agrifood systems.
We already grow enough calories to feed 10 billion people, yet hundreds of millions will go hungry tonight. Agriculture has a huge resource footprint, yet about a third of what we grow is lost or wasted. The problem was never simply "more food“; it's that we are running history's largest uncontrolled experiment on the planet and not measuring the results.
Our presenters, Marty Matlock of the University of Arkansas and Jonathon McIntyre of The i-Open Group Inc., argue that the next agricultural revolution depends less on new tools and more on leveraging the data farmers generate in the course of their work to build value throughout the agrifood life cycle, starting with the farmer. Join this webinar to learn how standards can enable more sustainable agrifood systems and how you can help. Q&A will follow.
