Energy is a key topic in the global community and decisions organizations make on energy use is a strategic business decision that impacts financial success and provides for success in organizational commitments related to achieving decarbonization. ISO TC 301 is committed to providing resources to the global community to assist organizations in their efforts to improve energy efficiency, make effective decarbonization decisions, and demonstrate through monitoring, measurement, verification and validation the energy savings achieved.

By reducing energy consumption and increasing energy efficiency and energy performance, an entity can reduce the amount of energy that needs to be produced from energy types with high carbon emissions such as fossil fuels. Achieving the global net zero goals requires a combination of reducing energy consumption, improving energy efficiency and transitioning to a combination of clean and renewable energy types.

To help in these efforts ISO TC 301 has a number of published standards and a number of projects that are currently on-going.
