To celebrate World FM Day, this year ISO TC 267 will be posting daily updates from 11 May to 15 May, covering the tremendous progress made within the committee. This year's World FM Day theme is Celebrating our environment.
Technology has an ever-growing impact on our environment as facility managers. The COVID-19 pandemic has proven that successful application of select technologies can have a significant impact on facility users within our demand organizations. A lot of facility managers at present however struggle to fully comprehend this vast and seemingly daunting technological landscape. In light of this need for digital transformation, Working Group 6 - Technology in FM was created within our Technical Committee.
The working group has primarily been focussing on the creation of a technical report: ISO/WD TR 41016 - Technology in facility management - Scope, key concepts and benefits. This report will help FM professionals around the globe to: better understand the technology landscape; to better understand the key concepts involved; and to ultimately better serve our demand organizations.
However, we cannot do this alone! The working group is looking for tech-savvy FM and IT professionals to share their experiences and contribute to the goals mentioned above. At the beginning of May, the working group hosted a webinar to outline the work the group has been doing and to reach out to talented professionals to take action and participate.
