4th June 2020 saw the 12th Plenary meeting of ISO TC 267 Facility Management taking place virtually due to the global pandemic covid-19 restricting the ability of the delegates meeting face to face.
Having got off to a sporadic start due to confusion between GMT and BST (British Summer Time) time zones for some we eventually had 49 delegates in attendance a number who were new to the committee.
We had a full agenda and a productive meeting. Helgard Pienaar from South Africa who as Convenor of Working Group 4 has done a terrific job in his leadership of this group who have now concluded the work associated with ISO 41014 ‘Development of Facility Management Strategy’. It is now anticipated that this latest standard in the ISO 41000 family of standards will be published later this year.
It was also announced at the meeting that Jay Drew, who has been a huge contributor to the Technical Committee since it was formed, had decided to step down and enjoy his retirement. Our thanks go to Jay due to his considerable input and support that he has given to the work of TC 267 over the past 8 years.
All work items on the agenda were dealt with, the virtual meeting, whilst not being a desirable substitute for face to face meetings, worked reasonably well.
We are now looking forward to the next plenary meeting scheduled for November 2020 in Panama, which is planned to take place during a week of training and education events for the region, and which we are hopeful will be able to take place in person.
