Progress update on ISO/TC267/WG4’s activities towards the Development of ISO/CD 41014 (FM) Development of Facility Management Strategy

During the workshops held from 19 to 20 November 2019, in St. Petersburg, Russia, ISO/TC267/WG4 met to resolve 362 comments we have received from our standards community. Various preparatory meetings were held, and over these two days, the document was tested and matured, in large part due to the significant contribution from our National Standards Bodies (NSBs).

We are pleased to provide feedback to the effect that we are working towards registering a Draft International Standard (DIS) ballot.

The aim of ISO 41014 Facility management — Development of facility management strategy is to promote awareness, competence development and expertise in the FM organization by providing advice on the decisions affecting the management of the facilities and/or the delivery of facility services. Specifically, ISO 41014 provides a foundation for organizations wanting to establish an FM strategy for the first time or to align and improve an existing strategy in accordance with an international standard.

This standard follows directly from ISO 41001, which introduced strategy as part of the FM Management System. This new standard provides additional guidance and recommendations to enable the most appropriate approach to FM and facility services to be determined. It is applicable to any FM organization that wishes to utilize a methodology for developing a strategy for FM.

Thank you to the members of WG4 for your voluntary contribution thus far towards developing a document of high quality. We are looking forward to another meaningful workshop in Barcelona in June, 2020, with the objective of considering and providing feedback on comments received world wide.
