ISO/TC 258 approved a new project for the development of an international standard for Project, programme and portfolio management — Artificial intelligence — Concepts, applications, and implications. The work will be led by Project Leader Dr Charles Lesko from United States of America and should occur over a two year development cycle.
This standard proposal outlines artificial intelligence (AI) concepts, applications, and implications, as well as benefits, risks, governance framework, and scope for use by organizations within the context of project, programme, and portfolio management (PPPM).
This proposed standard is intended to supplement the other TC 258 standards and is in direct alignment with standards prepared by ISO/TC 258. This document provides guidance for organizations on what to consider when adopting or looking to improve on existing AI technologies that directly support PPPM. This proposed standard is applicable to any organization, including public, private, and charitable, as well as to any type of project, regardless of purpose, delivery approaches, project or programme lifecycle model used, complexity, size, cost, or duration.
The appointed Convenor and Project Leader Dr. Charles Lesko (United States of America), whose expertise and vision will guide the work of the newly established Working Group 17 (WG 17): PPPM – Artificial Intelligence. WG 17 will be composed of internationally nominated experts with diverse backgrounds spanning industry, academia, and public institutions.
This group will be tasked with defining key AI concepts, identifying current and emerging applications, and evaluating the broader implications of AI integration in PPPM. These efforts will help ensure the standard is both innovative and practically grounded.
Interested experts are invited to participate and contribute to the development of this proposed new standard by registering through their respective National Standards Bodies.
