Rwanda Standards Board hosts ISO/TC 176 Annual Plenary
The Rwanda Standards Board is hosting the Annual Plenary for ISO/TC 176 Quality management and quality assurance in Kigali, Rwanda.
The meeting was opened by the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM) in Rwanda Richard Niwenshuti, the Head of ISO standards development José Alcorta, the Director General of the Rwanda Standards Board Raymond Murenzi, and the Chair of ISO/TC 176, Jeffrey Hunt.
In his opening remarks, Jeffery Hunt, spoke about his conversations with the Rwanda Standards Board earlier in the day. He noted the positive impact quality management standards have had on government and industry in Rwanda. The MINICOM Permanent Secretary later challenged the attendees to help Rwanda further embrace the benefits of international standards.
This message reinforced the value of ISO/TC of holding the Plenary in countries like Rwanda that are embracing standardization as an economic and social benefit.
