The ISO/IEC JTCG offers several different tools that will assist the TC/SC/PC as it explores the possibilities of MSS. 

Training and Workshops

• A virtual training session that defines MSS, key elements of the MSS environment, the MSS process, and roles within MSS. This session is best completed in a 2-hour session. 
• The JTCG has delivered workshops in association with its Plenary meetings. These workshops can be attended in-person or virtually. These workshops are based on inquiries from MSS writers. Topics have included:
  • “What is a MSS?”
  • Tips and Tricks from MSS writers;
  • What is an audible requirement;
  • MSS vs. requirement standards.

Forms and templates related to MSS

• ISO/IEC Justification study template — the questions that must be completed and submitted with the Form 4 (ISO) or Form NP (IEC) for a proposed MSS;
• ISO/IEC Harmonized text with guidance for MSS writers — the common terms and core definitions, as well as the text of the harmonized structure, with guidance on how to draft discipline-specific additions in each clause;
• ISO/IEC Terminology guidance in support of MSS — how terms and definitions should be developed and within MSS;
• ISO/IEC Deviation report template — the template where MSS writers can define and justify deviations to the harmonized structure text (submit at the Enquiry stage and final proof stages).

Insights from the ISO/IEC JTCG

In its coordination role, the ISO/IEC JTCG interacts with TC/SC/PCs and as a result develops various short articles and communications that are collected on the “Insights for Committees” page. These topics range from addressing TMB and SMB resolutions to understanding the difference between the “what” and “how" of a requirement.
