The Regulatory Oversight Committee (ROC) and the Derivatives Service Bureau (DSB) have announced a joint programme to promote awareness of the use of the globally harmonised Unique Product Identifier (UPI). On 1 October 2020, the Regulatory Oversight Committee (ROC) became the International Governance Body for the Unique Product Identifier (UPI). From 2022 UPIs will be assigned and maintained by the Derivatives Service Bureau (DSB).
The ROC and DSB will hold three industry fora in 2021 to increase awareness of the UPI service amongst market participants ahead of the DSB's launch of their UPI service in 2022. The industry fora aim to provide firms with sufficient time to consider the UPI service and feed UPI implementation resourcing and/or technology needs into their budgetary cycles for 2022.
