The first plenary meeting of the ISO/TC 342 Management Consultancy was successfully held from November 20 to 22, 2023. Nearly 50 experts from 16 countries, including China, the USA, Canada, the UK, Italy, and South Korea, along with representatives from ICMCI and CEN/TC 381, participated in the event.
The meeting covered 17 agenda items, including the Secretariat report, discussions of the Scope, potential new proposals, the development of a Strategic Business Plan (SBP), and the establishment of advisory and task groups. Key proposals from China, Austria, and South Korea focused on topics such as customer experience management, digital supply chain consulting, international trade consultancy, ESG consulting, AI applications, and standardization in consulting.
The meeting resulted in multiple resolutions, notably:
- Establishing the Chair’s Advisory Group (ISO/TC 342/CAG) and the Communication and Engagement Task Group (ISO/TC 342/TG2), both chaired by Mr. Xin YAO.
- Forming the Strategic Business Plan Task Group (ISO/TC 342/TG1), led by Dr. Yuan HUANG, the ISO/TC 342 Committee Manager.
- Setting up liaison mechanisms with ISO/TC 176 (Quality management and quality assurance), ISO/TC 225 (Market, opinion and social research), ISO/TC 258 (Project, programme and portfolio management), and ISO/TC 260 (Human resource management).
This milestone meeting laid a solid foundation for future collaboration and standardization in the management consultancy field.
